Zainab Muhammad –
Not long lasting
Miss Chronically Fabulous –
Very special (if you’re European) summer fragrance. Starts with a strong pineapple-cinnamon, to then blend with the vanilla and balsamic notes. Amber, patchouli and Coumarin aren’t noticeable as individual notes, but mixed in perfectly, creating a warm, softly spiced base. The dry down is a vanilla-cinnamon scent with hints of pineapple in the distance and a balsamic-herbaceous accord to liven things up. It’s quite lineair as there isn’t a whole lot of development – and what is there is done within 15 to 20min. However, lineair doesn’t mean boring. It’ll attract especially the perfume lovers who prefer something heavier, more sultry. Royal Blends is sweet, spicy, with just enough fruitiness to qualify for the warmer months.
Projection at first is strong, only to flatten out to an armlength inner circle after 45min. Don’t overspray, as it’ll choke you out because of the type of fragrance and initial strength. RE-spraying ís unfortunately necessary as the fragrance lasts a limited 3hrs on my dry hide before it’s a barely noticeable skin scent. Definitely moisturise properly before wearing this. Because it shines in summer, I don’t mind the lack of strong projection that much – the longevity is alas a point of contention. I do really like it, though, so I think I might buy a 2nd bottle one day. Even though ‘summer gourmands’ are finally becoming a thing, this fragrance isn’t much like what else the market has nowadays in the warmer months. Europe is then overflowing with citrusy, aquatic and laundry like scents, and the occasional sunscreen-coconut type or passionfruit-mango juice. While the pineapple isn’t new, Royal Blends still stands out as a result – and so will you.
I did notice a similarity with Pride Shaheen Gold (PSG), once that one had macerated several months (initially I got a sweet freshie with very bad projection/longevity, let it sit until the next season and… wow). PSG is a tad fresher – no cinnamon or Coumarin – but otherwise on my skin (I didn’t get any Lavender) very, very similar. Not twins, but brothers. If you like the vibe, the scent profile, and don’t mind the lack of warm spiciness and prefer longevity instead, then go for PSG. If it’s the warmth & spiciness that attracts you so much, then best buy yourself a perfume pod and respray during the day. After all “Royal Blends” is extremely affordable… and worth it imho. 3.5 stars.
